Style with Purpose

Each fabric is chosen to match U.S. fashion trends, blending Dominican creativity with modern design for bags that carry both beauty and meaning.

Our working plan
We are building this like a studio on the move: listen, co‑design, source, prototype, test, repeat. We survey our school, talk with people at events, and learn what U.S. people actually carry. Then we bring those ideas back to the sewing rooms in the Dominican Republic, try them with local materials, and keep what works.

What U.S. young people told us they want

  • Shapes: everyday tote for school, small crossbody for weekends, crescent shoulder bag, mini backpack, sling/fanny for concerts.
  • Features: inside phone pocket, key clip, secure zipper, water bottle sleeve on totes, adjustable straps, light but strong.
  • Style: clean lines, simple hardware, a little structure so it holds shape.
  • Colors: core neutrals like black, cream, tan, and denim. One pop option each drop like cobalt, sunny yellow, or coral.
  • Prints: tiny florals, stripes, checks, or a single bold panel instead of all-over pattern.

Words on the bags
Keep text minimal and meaningful.

  • “Hero”,“A future earned, not given” and more
  • Limited “story cards” with a QR code to meet the maker.

How we source
We spend time in local shops and markets to find sturdy canvas, denim, ripstop, and deadstock prints. We test for colorfastness and stitch strength so the bags last. When we hit a supply gap, we adjust the design instead of forcing the fabric.

Prototyping and feedback
We build quick samples with the girls: cut, sew, finish, time each step, note what’s tricky, and fix it. Back home we run polls at school and show samples at events to get real reactions on size, strap length, and pockets. Then we circle back and refine.

Reaching our audience

  • On campus: pop‑ups with try‑ons and preorders.
  • Online: short behind‑the‑scenes clips from cutting to the final stitch, posted to Instagram and TikTok.
  • Word of mouth: student ambassadors who carry early samples and collect feedback.
  • Drops: small limited runs in two or three colorways so each release feels special.

Design ideas to test next

  • Crescent shoulder bag in denim with contrast topstitching.
  • Mini crossbody with a front zip pocket and detachable strap.
  • Tall campus tote with laptop sleeve and bottle pocket.
  • Two‑tone canvas sling with a secret back pocket.

We will keep listening, learning, and building with our friends in the DR. We will try to work for the future earned not given.
